But that's not all - the president of the union spoke about other issues they've been facing, including a leaking roof which the staff fears will one day collapse.

And there's the issue of the lack of a pension that Baird says is causing mass resignations.

Meanwhile, the vice president, Tylon Tillett, explained that the union is tired of having to suffer in silence.

Andrew Baird, Nurse/ President, KHMHWU
"For them to invite you the media on one of these rainy day in Karl Heusner [Hospital]. There are areas where we would want to wear or raincoat or umbrellas as well, but we have a problem with a shortage of the human resource in Karl Heusner. There is a mass resignation in Karl Heusner, of staff over the past year and continues into this month and next month for the simple reason of we have a management who have been there for 1 year and simply appears not to give a damn, if I may able to use that word. We need to look after the interest of the staff. We have no benefit. People are leaving because there is no benefit, there is no pension. There is a shortage of supplies at our dialysis unit. We were made to understand that the dialysis supplies that was supposed to be for Karl Heusner at the CNS has been diverted to a private institution of which I will not call name, for legal purposes. But these are the kinds of things and then Karl Heusner is being left out there on its own and yet they can sign off to expand the dialysis unit to an additional 30 patients, but you cannot bring the supplies."

Tylon Tillett, Vice President, KHMHWU

"The Karl Heusner workers union does not want to do this. This is a cry for help and a cry for awareness to let the public understand the context that healthcare is being brought to you. If this situation continues as it currently stands, we will be in the news. People lives will be affected. That's what the union is trying to avoid."
