And on the other side, the KHMH CEO, Chandra Cansino, denies that they've been union busting. She emphasized that the anecdotes - which she described as only the first step in the disciplinary process, and was nothing more than an acknowledgement - would not be recorded. She added that they have no ulterior motives - they just was to resolve the issue as soon as possible. However, they are prepared if the union amps up their industrial action.
Chandra Cansino, CEO, KHMH
"Remember yesterday, we don't know what the union's plans is, we get little information here and there so usually the supervisors will respond to whatever policy issues that may arise, that includes the dress policy issue. So indeed, before Mr Baird called me to tell me that they were going to proceed with the casual day, I call it, some anecdote, what they call anecdote which is an acknowledgement that you have violated the dress code, it's like a first kind of warning."

"It's a write up."
Chandra Cansino, CEO, KHMH
"Yes. We met with the union in the morning and I did give my word to Mr Baird and the executive that whatever anecdotes were written would not go on the staff's file for that day, simply because well we are familiarizing ourselves with what is going on, and the past president also said well you know you have to prepare your staff, if you do action, they might get some anecdotes and you have to deal with those so I gave my word on that, apparently afterwards some persons still received anecdotes so Mr Baird called me after the meeting and I told him, don't worry, I already gave you my word that those anecdotes will not go on the personal files and so that is essentially what happens and that still applies up until today."
Reporter:
"This morning he had mentioned that your attitude and the management's attitude had changed which is why they would continue their industrial plan."
Chandra Cansino, CEO, KHMH
"Well, my attitude has been the same, one of partnership, one of trying to solve this issue, and so for me nothing changed, that is still our position. I guess we're trying to establish what the end game is and what the point of contentions are, those that were raised on Tuesday, the commitment was made to address all of them, but they still proceeded with industrial action and so we need to understand exactly what is being asked so that we are able to work and collaborate with the union."
Reporter:
"If it comes to that point where they do walk out, will there be any repercussions in terms of salary deduction, anything like that?"
Chandra Cansino, CEO, KHMH
"That we would have to cross that bridge when we come to it, contingency plans, we have those in place and so the public does not need to be concerned if there is a sickout or a walkout that there would be no services available."
