Flowers also had harsh words for the AG's Ministry - after news has emerged that the new chief magistrate will be a foreigner. In designating a Sri Lankan for the post, the government has bypassed 3 senior Magistrates, including Aretha Ford who was next next in line.

Flowers says It makes no sense to him and even seems discriminatory:

Dean Flowers, President, PSU
"We need a replacement for the chief magistrate who was moving. I understand there is somebody there who has 30 plus years in the system, Belizean and we going to look for a Sri Lankan? I don't want to play no race card here, but I hear this race card is getting touted a lot on the media and so on. Now, is it that black people, and I'm not saying that race card...Is it that we are not good enough to hold these posts? Because what else? If you have somebody who have been serving 30 plus years and fully qualified to take office, would you go and look for a Sri Lankan? It's a travesty what's happening in the judicial system and the way they are treating Belizeans in that system. It's unfair and it is for again, the officers who work under that ministry to continue to voice their discontent when they see fit, because clearly no one is serving their best interest."
