In April of this year, The Ministry of Health and Wellness had partnered with The Rotary Club of Orange Walk District to improve childcare services in the north by investing 2.3 million into the construction of a pediatric wing at the Northern Regional Hospital. We asked the minister for an update on that project yesterday and he says that construction is coming along faster than expected.

Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health & Wellness

"Well, of course, you know that the new paediatric wing in the Northern Region Hospital has been a joint project, with the rotary, group I know that, we at the government and I must commend the prime minister when we initially, we met way back, I believe, in early 2021 with the people at Rotary. And we committed that the government will fund, additional money for us to be able to build that paediatric wing, And so we know that the work was procured and the contractor is moving very fast. And I believe that we will be able to see us moving into that facility very soon, hopefully by early next year."
