Yesterday, the Mexican Congress erupted into chaos as politicians wrestled, slapped and shoved each other. It was a battle for the Speaker's platform, on which the President-elect, Felipe Calderon, will be inaugurated tomorrow.
The Opposition Democratic Revolution Party claims its candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was cheated of victory by vote fraud in the July presidential election. Now party lawmakers hope to disrupt Calderon's inauguration and ultimately prevent him from taking office.
Well a man who has seen a few parliamentary disruptions is going to attend that embattled inauguration tomorrow. Prime Minister Said Musa - who has enjoyed a close relationship with outgoing Mexican President Vicente Fox will join regional leaders at the inauguration. Still there is some question as to whether there will be even an inauguration ceremony as the opposition maintains control of the congress building. But it may be held elsewhere.
Fox and other ruling party members have argued that Calderon will become President Friday with or without an inauguration.
