The first visa was issued from the new U.S. Embassy in Belmopan on Monday. In a symbolic gesture, Ambassador Robert Dieter presented visas to Alta Casares and her son Angel Castro in the lobby of the new U.S. Embassy complex in Belmopan.

The mother and son applied for a visa as the boy will be traveling to the Richmond Virginia for cardiac surgery through the Rotary's Gift of Life Program.

With the presentation, the Embassy officially began all consular operations in Belmopan after having moved from their long serving offices on Gabourel Lane.
