He won last year's election by a razor thin margin and now Mexico's new President Jorge Calderon is coming to Belize. He arrives on Friday June 29 to take part in a regional meeting that's being held on San Pedro.
On Saturday the 30th, he will hold private meetings with Prime Minister Said Musa. They will discuss border security, trade cooperation and military assistance. The Prime Minister will also confer Calderon with the Order of Belize.
His predecessor Vicente Fox received that honour in 2005. Fox visited Belize twice, in 2000 and 2005.
Tonight, the Prime Minister and other Caribbean leaders are in Washington after a day of meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice. Tomorrow, U.S. President George Bush will address the gathering.
