There may have been some unease between Venezuelan Ambassador Omar Valdiviezo and the government of Belize while the mystery of the missing millions hung in the air. But now that’s that been cleared up – it’s time for the Ambassador to get on with what he told us is one of his priorities in Belize, and that is poverty alleviation.
And on Saturday morning, Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington took him into the heart of urban poverty on the Jasmine Street Area in his Pickstock division. Valdiviezo and officers from his embassy were given an opportunity to witness first hand some of the problems that low income families in Belize face.
But the biggest news is not the tour; it is this: a government release says that Belize and Venezueala are currently finalizing an agreement of friendship and cooperation.
