The Organization of American States’ Assistant Secretary General is on an official visit to Belize. Ambassador Albert Ramdin has already met with Prime Minister Dean Barrow and tomorrow he will deliver the commencement address at the University of Belize’s graduation ceremony. He met the media this afternoon and we asked about the special agreement signed between Guatemala and Belize in Washington in November. He says the matter is now in the hands of both countries and the OAS can only intervene if it is asked to.

Amb. Albert Ramdin, Assistant Sec. Gen. – OAS
“We would like to see of course the matter resolved as soon as possible but this is just an intention which most countries has expressed also on their own. Again if there is a concern with regards to the process and the time line and the activities in between and if one of the countries would like to discuss, the OAS will always be open to that if that would be the case. Again we have not received such a request.”

He will deliver the commencement address on Saturday morning at UB’s graduation in Belmopan.
