Belize Blacked out by CFE Explosion

If you had a power outage in your neighborhood last night, you weren't alone...the whole country was under a blackout. Just after eight, a transformer at CFE's Ticul substation in Merida exploded, and it caused outages in the Mexican states of Yucatan and Campeche....and a collapse of the national grid in Belize.

But the BEL boys were quick with their flashlights and power to Belize City was restored in less than half an hour. It took as much as an hour more to get power to northern and southern Belize. By 9:30, power to all areas was restored.
