Keeping it in the Corozal District, early on Saturday morning a fire destroyed a house in Corozal Town.
28-year-old Nirsa Gomez who lived there with her child - and, luckily, they weren't at home at the time of the fire so no one was injured. But a whole lot was lost. One of the residents who witnessed the fire told CTV-3 that the fire team's response was very poor.
Alfredo Gibson, Resident

"I saw flames and the house was on fire. When we went over people were already starting to gather around. People were trying to help out the fire because the other neighbor was in a tight position because her house would have been blazed too. We tried to help and they called the fire service but the fire service was very poor. It reached very late. Almost half an hour."
"A little after that we saw the fire engine come. After it came they tried to out the fire but there was only a little bit of water so they had to go back and when they came back they tried to out it again."
"We were wondering what took the fire station so long. They took a little while before they ever came around to see the fire. That is what really concerned us."
The house was not insured. The investigation into the cause continues.
