Back in June, we took you to mile 38 on the George Price Highway where a culvert had been washed away splitting the highway in two.
Since then engineers have built a makeshift crossing that's been the sole one-lane access road to the west. It's a delicate situation in desperate need of an upgrade and just in time for what could be floodwaters this weekend and storm shelter seekers heading west, it's finally getting one.
This afternoon in a press release the Ministry of works advised the public of its scheduled to widen the access road making it a two-lane crossing. These works began today and will be carried on through tomorrow.
Motorists are asked to exercise caution and bear patience.
