Despite one bus owner's threats of a protest, the Department of Transport today issued a press release informing the public that the ticketing system will be implemented at Belize City, Belmopan, Orange Walk, Corozal, Independence and Dangriga bus terminals this coming Monday. The department reminded the bus operators that they are mandated by SI 136 to only allow passengers with tickets to travel on the bus. They are also required to sanitize buses and not to allow passengers in excess of the seating capacity. Commuters are also asked to comply with these measures, as well as to continue wearing face masks and practice social distancing.
