
The US Embassy in Belize collaborated with the Belize Government to host a workshop called Inaugural Case Backlog Reduction.
Senior officials from the judiciary and legal community attended the forum today. Among them were Patrick Ventrell, the US Department of State Director for Central American Affairs; Attorney General Hon. Magali Marin Young; Acting Chief Justice Michelle Arana; Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer; Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl-Lynn Vidal, representatives of the Belize Judiciary, the Bar Association, Human Rights Commission, the Ministry of Human Development, the Police Department, and representatives from the U.S. Embassy's Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.
Today's exercise is the next step in the U.S.-funded Backlog Reduction Program. Belize and the United States will hold bi-annual bilateral meetings to strengthen cooperation on national and regional security issues.
