The Sugar Industry Commission of Inquiry is underway - but you wouldn't know, because hearings were supposed to be closed door. But now, it seems the commissioners have had a change of heart: hearings will now be streamed live - and open to the press, but not the public.
They public hearings start tomorrow and run through to Saturday, August 31st at Escuela Secundaria Mexico in San Roman village in the Corozal District. All stakeholders from the northern sugar industry will testify.
The venue then moves to the Ministry of Agriculture's conference room at the agriculture showgrounds in Belmopan where other interests such as Santander Sugar, BEL and the Public Utilities Commission will testify.
A schedule of the hearings has been publicized with different stakeholders scheduled for each day.
Channel 7 will be airing the live stream and you can see it on our Facebook and YouTube pages.
