There has been much discussion about the implementation of a national sex offenders registry. When we asked the Prime Minister about it he said he supports it once it is developed and implemented properly. Who better to do that than the ministry of E-Governance? We asked their CEO about it today and he explained why he is in support:

Jose Urbina, CEO, E-Governance

"Any digital development or any digital system being considered by the government of Belize should come to the ministry of E-governance and my take is it should be a public data base of course once you have been proven guilty of an offense we are more than willing to assist in terms of developing this data base that is needed."

Jo-
"Do You think that it is something that is needed in Belize though do you think it would be helpful?"

Jose Urbina, CEO, E-Governance
"As a parent, my personal opinion as a parent I think it is needed we should always be aware of who is around our children especially in primary school or secondary school or in their educational institutions as a way to do due diligence and background checks or anyone that is being hired within a public institution and also to know who is living around you I think it is very important as a parent."
