The Public Service Union today called for the removal of embattled Immigration Director Jose Carmen Zetina.

The Union statement comes in response to bold declarations made by Zetina in the media this week where he made the bald declaration that 90% of the officers in the department are corrupt. He also told us that he feels the theft of 200 passports is at least partially an attempt to undermine his leadership of the department.

The union calls this "unreasonable condemnation" and calls upon the Prime Minister to, "rescind Zetina's appointment as director." The Union adds that the responsibility for securing the passports ultimately rests with Zetina, but it is the rank and file of the department, specifically three officers who have been detained in connection with the theft.

As a retired Police Commissioner, Zetina was retained as a contract officer to take over the department when he left the top cop's spot.
