The Chief Justice has given the Chamber of Commerce permission to apply for judicial review of cabinet's decision to not recover all revenue collected by BELIPO and the private registry. This morning, the Chamber's attorney Lois Young appeared before the Chief Justice across from the government's attorney Solicitor General Elson Kaseke. Kaseke filed a preliminary objection on a technical point and the Chief Justice agreed, striking out the application. But in an unusual turn, the Chief Justice called back the attorneys half an hour later to tell them that he had reconsidered and reversed his decision. With that, he granted permission to file for judicial review of Cabinet's decision and the first substantive hearing is scheduled for March 21st.
