But what about the man who would be Prime Minister? Opposition Leader Dean Barrow is taking it all in from afar and today he told us that while the public infighting is bad politics for the PUP, which is good news for him, there is one other worrying component: how all this plays out internationally. Here are Barrow's comments to Alfonso Noble outside the Supreme Court this afternoon.
Hon. Dean Barrow, UDP Leader
"It is bad for stability, it is bad for appearances. It is undignified, it is unseemly, it is public bitching and squabbling so it creates absolutely the wrong impression. But more concretely, how can anyone try to re-muster any kind of faith in a government that obviously cannot cohere, that can't govern effectively because there is such a wide chasm when you consider that that is in addition to all else that is wrong, in addition to SSB and in addition to DFC and in addition to the default that is staring us in the face with respect to the external debt.
This means that the profile of the government is disastrous and whatever remaining credibility, whatever shrinking credibility they may have had left, is being completely eroded now by what's taking place in terms of their taking to the airwaves, the public media, to air what seems to be remarkably dirty linen."
Barrow indicated to us that the UDP will hold a pres conference shortly to discus the Social Security report and government's reaction.
