One additional reason for concern is that the Prime Minister is also having his convention on that day. According to The Belize Times, the divisional convention for the party leader will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 on Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's Hall.
The standard practice and the tradition is that the leader has his convention last, after all other standard bearers. But in this case, Mr. Musa is only first to last.
Belize Rural Central incumbent Ralph Fonseca has still not officially decided if he will run in the next general election, so no date has been set for his convention.
PUP insiders say that it's considered disrespectful to do so after the party leader, but those same insiders tell us that perhaps the seemliness of propriety is not the priority for Fonseca at this time.
