Belize has lost its bid for a spot to play in this year's CONCACAF Gold Cup football tournament. Last night was the do or die game between our national team and Nicaragua and though our team fought valiantly, it wasn't enough.
The game ended 4 goals to 2 in favor of Nicaragua. Belize's two goals were scored by Deon McCauley in the 26th and 34th minutes. But by our first goal we were already the underdogs since Nicaragua scored their first two goals in the 12th and 19th minutes.
Our national team should be on their way back to Belize while Nicaragua moves on. We should note that this was Belize's biggest loss in the tournament. Previous defeats were only by a goal each.
