It's a $33 million guarantee for a private debt that is to be honoured with public funds but government says the public can't see the guarantee document. But now Cabinet has decided that the 41 members of the National Assembly can see it, and if they like, take notes on it.
And the first to do so today was Opposition Leader Dean Barrow. Barrow was scheduled to go to the Belmopan office of government's legal counsel Gian Ghandi at 5:30 this evening to view the document. Efforts to reach him to get his impression on it were unsuccessful, but the opposition is expected to make a public statement on it next week.
