And while Dr. Barnett is on the out, reports say that key Ministers and Representatives in the Musa administration are considering their options before they make a decision on whether they will support the renegotiated Universal package that will be taken to the House on Friday.
7NEWS has confirmed that 5 ministers, all former G-7'ers, met at the Department of Transport in the city this morning. They are Joe Coye, John Briceno, Mark Espat, Cordel Hyde and Eamon Courtenay. Sources say that they met to discuss the re-negotiated Universal guarantee that will be brought to Friday's House meeting.
We couldn't reach any of those ministers for comment on what is their position but best information suggests that at least four of them, namely Briceno, Espat, Hyde and Courtenay, are squarely opposed to the idea of paying the private debt. There are rumors that indicate as well that there may also Be at least two backbenchers who are not in support of it.
Of course, nothing is final and it is a very fluid situation. Negotiations with the bank are underway as are negotiations within the PUP that should all come down to a pre-house meeting, party caucus on Thursday.
