There will be a house meeting next week Wednesday. Just a week before Christmas and planned for midweek - and not the customary Friday, it is considered irregular. And that begs the question, will the Prime Minister use the opportunity to announce a date for elections? Well that could be the case. We say that because there are no pressing parliamentary matters and the only House business we know of is bringing a few bills for second and third readings.
And indeed, those close to the Prime Minister say that's it: the PM just wants to clean out the parliamentary docket before the big dance. But we do know that Prime Minister Musa announced the date for the 2003 elections at a House sitting - so with that precedent, we'll keep watching this one very closely. But, at this time, the truth is that probably only the Prime Minister and his very closest advisors know whether he will or won't call the election on that date.
