And while Mayor Moya is turning away from the Social Security scandal, others are pressing at her door. First, Perrera alleges that the Mayor has failed to pay her personal income tax; this is not the first time that such a claim has come up – the same allegation was made in the run up to the October 2008 convention. We tried to reach the Mayor to ask her about this today but we were unsuccessful.
Second, there’s a compelling but at this time unsubstantiated report that a shadow company has been bilking the council for phoney payments for street repairs. The report suggests that street repairs were done by the Ministry of Works but then this shadow company was permitted to charge the council for those same repairs. Reports suggest it was not a clerical error, it was an orchestrated fleecing. Again, compelling, but unsubstantiated at this time.
