Sir Manuel Esquivel will be the new Chairman of the Central Bank. He takes the place of Allan Slusher - who will return to Belmopan after holding the senior post for the past three years.

According to Prime Minister Dean Barrow, Sir Manuel will retain his title as senior advisor with ministerial rank for the nominal salary of ten dollars per year.

PM Barrow says Sir Manuel will take up the new Central Bank posting next week and it will permit the two time Prime Minister and minister of finance the relief of not having to travel to Belmopan daily.

He says Slusher and Esquivel - both senior advisors in the ministry of finance - are sort of transferring roles as Slusher will now work more regularly in Belmopan.
