Last week we told you that deputy Mayor Philloughby wants to run for mayor while his boss, Mayor Moya may have designs on a divisional seat in the general elections.

Of course, the only problem there is that, strictly speaking, Moya is not a member of the UDP party. She was expelled last year, remember? But, throughout, Moya has maintained that she is a UDP - and reports are that on Friday she submitted her name to the party as a candidate for the Albert division convention. Friday was the deadline for the submission of names for those interested in contesting conventions.

Now, the party's executive would still have to meet to consider Moya's re-admission into the party, and a convention would still have to be held, but the thought is still intriguing. Despite the volumes of bad press Moya has received, she is a formidable opponent who has never lost an election.

Of course, Espat is considered un-defeatable - and - among many other benchmarks - is the only candidate in memory to have won a city division with 83% of the vote - that was in 2003.
