For UDP Party Whip and Mesopotamia Area Representative Michael Finnegan fixing it would man going back to the House Of Representatives.

We met the incumbent walking the streets of his Southside constituency today. He said he's come out to canvass his voters to find out what they think - and for them the consensus positions is, "take it back.":

Hon. Michael Finnegan

"If you notice I am in the division. When matters like this arise I think it is important that you go to the people and find out what are the views of the people and that's what I am doing all day today to talk to people and to find out from people what are their views. I am getting the complete impression that they want the government to go back to the national assemble, correct that which the Court of Appeal say was wrongly done in law and to re-acquire BTL. I am telling that is the views of the voters of the Mesopotamia division and I will be out here Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday canvasing their views, now it is not my views. The views of the voters in here is paramount. They have elected me as a member of parliament for a long long period of time because I listen to them and I am afraid that if I don't listen to them they might probably lynch me. Mr. Goldson told me some time ago - many years ago that when a situation arises like this and a government is face in a difficult position the only way you solve this difficult decision is to go back to the people and this is what I am doing. And the view out here in my view is overwhelming. Now I cannot speak for Cabinet and I don't know what are the views in other constituencies and what are the views of other area representatives. So I cannot indicate to you what decision Cabinet will arrive at."

Cabinet will weigh the matter tomorrow - and from there we expect to have a better gauge on what government intends to do as this very unpredictable situation continues to develop.
