The new tint laws came into effect on Friday - and while we were out covering the story last week - we heard more than few folks say they'll remove their tint when the Prime Minister and other ministers remove theirs.

Well, the Prime Minister's vehicle has never been tinted - but there are other ministers who are known to roll under a deep shade of black.

We tried to check up on some of them today, since the law is in effect - but with the crowds, the rain and the difficulties getting in and out of the house - we were unable to see how many were tinted and how many had their tint remove.

The Prime Minister, for one, put Cabinet violators on a very stern notice:

Jules Vasquez
"The tint regulations have come into effect. It's a matter - you don't have tint on your vehicle.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

"Never had that."

Jules Vasquez
"But, would you, I see the other Ministers in your Government..."

Prime Minister
"Well I explained to them now. I am saying to you now, what I have said to them. The authorities must charge them. I have made it plain in Cabinet; you cannot be above the law. You see - I do something that is perfectly consistent with the Constitution, and with authority, and they accuse me of violating the rule of law. In the case of a simple matter like this, it is not just that in principle, you can't do it. That has to look bad, that has to look terribly bad, if the law will apply to regular folk, and not apply to Ministers. That can't be the case. I'm saying to whomever, Mr. Heredia whoever, the authorities must charge you, if - I haven't seen his vehicle, so accepting what you say is true - then he must be summoned and charged. You can't do that."
