As we told you last week, CARICOM Election Observer would be in the country to observe the conduct of this year's general elections. A six-member team comprised of electoral officials from several CARICOM Member States arrived in Belize earlier this month. Virtual meetings were held with a number of stakeholders prior to elections to identify concerns for the general preparedness of the election. On election day, the team dispatched three teams of observers across the country in all districts except for Toledo. They visited close to thirty electoral divisions and just under two hundred polling stations. The Observers noted the smooth and timely opening of the polls, the seamless voting process, and the efficient closing of the polls and tallying of votes. They also mentioned that there were no incidents of intimidation of voters inside or outside the polling stations.
