But now Shyne Barrow is the man in the catbird's seat - and the first term rep seems to be enjoying it.
And if there's one thing you know about Shyne Barrow it's that he won 2 Grammys and sold 40 million records, it's a part of the gospel according to Shyne.
But Shyne isn't in the U.S. anymore, he's in Belize, and in this political landscape where it's less about what you've done and more about what you've done for us, how much will his "pop life" accolades really help him?
He's hoping they're proof of his "greatness", proof he'll need when he vies for the party's top job, that's right, Shyne wants to be party leader. Jules asked him about it:
Jules Vasquez "Sir so let me ask you, do you see yourself as a potential party leader down the road?"
Hon. Shyne Barrow - Area Rep Mesopotamia "I see myself supporting the current party leader."
Jules Vasquez "We won't be there forever, you just came in, going on to his fifth term. "
Hon. Shyne Barrow "Whenever the current party leader would not want to be party leader, I certainly would want to lead the party."
Jules Vasquez "You heard it here first, Shyne wants to be party leader, eventually."
