The one topic that the Tourism CEO didn't want to discuss in detail is the Belize Tourism Board's decision to terminate Karen Bevans as the Director of Tourism.

2 weeks ago, we told you how Bevans was sent home after the BTB's Board of Directors determined that her costly 5-year contract was simply not valid. It's surely going to end up in court, and maybe that's why the CEO dodged the questions today, directing us to the Chairman of the Board who also happens to be the interim Director of Tourism:

Reporter "Former Tourism Director Karen Bevans was given her termination letter. Let's explain to us what really happened there."

Nicole Solano - CEO, Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations "Well, regarding that situation, as you know, the former Director of Tourism is no longer there. So, we have Mr. Evan Tillett who is the Chairman of the Board, who is currently handling the management of the Tourism Board."

Reporter "Is there a conflict of interest there? The Director of Tourism actually answers to the chairman, but if the chairman is in that post, who does he answer to?"

Nicole Solano "Well, that is a question that maybe he can respond to."

Reporter "The manner in which the separation happened with Mrs. Karen Bevans is still up in the air. No one is really sure as to what happened. Was there a settlement that was arrived at? I know that there was a contract for 1.2 million dollars."

Nicole Solano "Again, that is information that I would ask that the chairman of the Board to respond to."

Bevans has retained former PM Dean Barrow as her attorney in this matter.
