Yesterday we told you about the new working hours being posted by many government ministries and departments - which were Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

But, a new government circular issued today changes that. Rolando Zetina, the CEO in the Ministry of the Public Service writes directs that the hours will be 9:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday, and 9:00 am - 4:30 pm on Friday.

Zetina's circular says it has become necessary to standardize the scheduling of reduced hours for the provisions of services to the populace. He urges Public Service managers to, quote, "encourage (public officers) to remain committed to the job.

The new hours changes the time for work to start to 9:00 am while keeping the departure time the same.
