UDP Leader Patrick Faber could be facing a formidable challenge. Credible reports reaching 7News are that former leader John Saldivar has gathered enough delegate signatures to trigger a recall of leader Patrick Faber.

He has reportedly gotten more than 200 delegates to sign - legitimising a petition calling for Faber's removals. That 200+ is significantly more than the minimum 177.

Of course, that's just phase one - phase two would be taking such a petition to the convention floor where two thirds of the delegates would have to vote in favour of the petition - which is not an easy threshold.

But, 177 - which is one - third - wasn't easy either and Saldivar reportedly now has that and more. Last week on Uncut, UDP Chairman Michael Peyrefitte said if it comes to his desk, he will deal with it as the constitution dictates:

Jules Vasquez
"Will you deal with it with equanimity or will you deal with it without saying bwoy I have to support the leader. Because that's how politics works."

Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"No, we are all subject to the UDP constitution."

Jules Vasquez
"Sir, we know that party constitutions are observe more in the breach..."

Michael Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"Under this chairman we will go according to the constitution. If one third of the delegates, the constituency committee say that they want to go to a vote to determine whether or not the Hon. Patrick Faber continues to be the leader of the party - their wishes have to be respected. I won't like it, because like I said I don't think it's in the best interest of the party at this time, but if it comes to my desk I have to accept it, because we have a provision for it in the constitution and we have to follow what the constitution says."

We will keep following developments on this closely.
