And in one more take from the UDP chairman, last night on the News we asked the Leader of the opposition, Shyne Barrow whether his trip to Liberia was a deliberate snub of the royals.
He denied that saying that the trip had been planned months in advance but he also told us what he hoped would happen when his colleague in the UDP chairman Micheal Peryfitte got to talk to Prince William.
We put that question to the chairman earlier today:
Cherisse Halsall
"Jules spoke to Shyne Barrow yesterday and he said that he hoped that if you had a chance to meet the Prince, you would have broached the subject of reparations with him. Did you have that chance?"
Micheal Peyrefitte - Chairman of the United Democratic Party
"No I did not, I Was told by the protocol people at Foreign Affairs that I will heading some particular group that the Prince and Duchess would have met but that was never afforded to us, so I just enjoyed the wine."
An open letter from the Bahamas National Reparations Committee to the Duke and duchess last night said quote: "They and their family of royals and their government must acknowledge that their diverse economy was built on the backs of our ancestors. And then, they must pay."
