All week long we've been reporting on the flare up in labour relations between the Public Service Union and the Government. It's all based on a phone call that the Prime Minister made to a Forestry Office - basically for him to give a flower importer a "bly" - because he was confiscating her plants.

Tonight the PSU is getting ready to defend Forester Daniel Chi who's been placed on administrative leave. And another officer from BAHA could also face disciplinary measures.

All this is unloading as we head into labour day weekend - where the unions are planning activities to celebrate workers.

We asked the PSU president if the chafing between the union and the government gives them a head of steam heading into labour day:

Today, Leader of the Opposition Shyne Barrow took a stand with public officers sending out a statement which says, quote, "No public officer should be subject to any type of ministerial interference….

It was unprofessional and highly inappropriate for the Prime Minister to intervene in an otherwise straightforward matter to instruct a Public Officer to act in contravention of procedure, policy, and law," end quote.
