And while we were on the subject of finances we asked the senator about the public insults hurled at him and his quote; "Fat man chair" during the Commission of Inquiry and whether that type of language warranted his own defamation suit against the much-lauded commission.
But he says he's sitting that one out claiming that the Belizean taxpayers have already been made to pay enough.
Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"I am much more focus at this point on trying to rebuild the party. Much more focus on trying to make sure that the government is operating under the law and within the law. Thats been my job. I think the message has been sent. I think the courts has made it very clear that what the Briceno administration did with that commissioner of inquiry is unacceptable and so I could add my voice to it. I could add another burden to it, but who will bear that burden? the Belizean people. It will not cost John Briceno nothing. It will not cost the government nothing. It will not cost none of them individually. The Belizean people will have to pay. So I think that the Belizean people have paid enough to understand the reckless nature of the actions of the John Briceno administration when it came to that commission of inquiry and I think that one more wouldn't necessarily send home the message any stronger than it has already been sent."
