And, for two guys who used to be partners in crimefighting and "chopper chums" - there's now no love lost between the Compol and his former Minister.
Of course, that's par for the course in the cut and thrust of politics, but here's what Peyrefitte had to say about the COMPOL and his current boss yesterday:
Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Shadow Minister, National Security
"I've said over and over its not personal, but Kareem Musa, Kevin Arthurs are not cut out to be minister and CEO of home affairs, primarily police. They are not cut out to be that and whatever respect you want to give to the current commissioner. From where he has come to where he is now, the respect is maximum. But whatever usefulness he may have had in the past, that is done and over with. Its time for a change. The elements in the country that should fear the police department, have a healthy fear for the police department, they don't have a healthy fear for it with this commissioner and his leadership, because they believe that they will get away with whatever they do."
Jules Vasquez
"It was the same under you, sir."
Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Shadow Minister, National Security
"And I will say this and say no more: the Commissioner of Police is appointed by the Prime Minister, not the minister of police."
