Of course, all this is just inter party noise that has gone - and continues - to go public.
But, why can't the UDP just squash all the public infighting and find a way to quarrel privately and at least get along in public?
Peyrefitte said it is not for want of trying:
Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, United Democratic Party
"I mean, we've tried to have discussion. I think that for some people when several people want the one particular thing and that thing cannot be chopped in two, not even by Solomon. It is that thing or no thing and when several people will have it at any cost, then that is an issue that you will have. There is nothing that you can do to appease them. But I say this to people who use to be in my face when they had an issue with Patrick Faber and who now are in my face when they have an issue with Shyne Barrow. It is very simple; we have a leader of the party and we must respect that leader."
Jules Vasquez
"But sir, you violated that when you made a statement against Patrick Faber after the allegations of abuse came out."
Michael Peyrefitte
"I also made a statement with the incident before that I believe that he could work through that, that he could get past that original incident. When it came to that second incident, I had no choice. Somebody from the party had to say something. I did not release these Kim Kardashian-type videos once every week incessantly asking over and over and berating and criticizing. I did no such thing."
Jules Vasquez
"Sir, you are complaining about a matter of degree, not a matter of principle. You believed that when a leader has been proven illegitimate, it is fair game to attack him publicly. That is what's happening here. They do not believe in the legitimacy of Shyne Barrow as leader of the UDP."
Michael Peyrefitte
"Okay, good for them. They have a right to believe that. They don't have a right to violate the constitution of the party that prevents them from expressing their opinions like that to the public."
