And following this incident, the chairman of the UDP, and former Minister of National Security, Michael Peyrefitte, yet again reiterated that he believes Minister Musa and ComPol Williams aren't fit to be leaders of the police department. The UDP also put out a statement today saying pretty much the same thing.
Well, the ComPol - never too shy to make a political taunt - lashed back at that, basically saying it's the UDP's fault they're in that mess to begin with.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I listen to my good friend and my former boss yesterday and he have come across as being somebody who sits in a corner and wait for mishaps or misfortunes to happen and he jump up, that's when he realizes he has energy, he jump up and begin to spew a bunch of nonsense. And I listen to him yesterday, speaking as if he was not here. The fruits we're reaping now is a direct result of the improper recruitment that took place over the 13 years period. When we object to taking certain people because of certain things, we're forced to take them because that is their political people. Now they want to jump up and pretend to be so perfect when they created the nonsense we're in right now. And as much as we're trying to clean it now, it is not going to be so quick because we can't just tell them, go home, we fire you. It is going to cost the state a whole lump sum of money."
"My last comment, I am fearful of megalomaniacs calling for external investigation when the four BDF were killed in the helicopter crash, my friend was the minister of national security. The public called for the investigation to be conducted by foreigners. Did he accept it? No, and I agreed with him, because we have capable people in country, so to sit now and say, we need this, we need that, when you were in the seat and you got those suggestions, you blatantly refused them, now all of a sudden you have all the answers to all the problems? You had a chance to fix it, bredda."
