Earlier in the news, showed you what Prime Minister Briceno had to say when we asked him about the legal battle between the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Caribbean International Brewery Company Limited.

We also took the opportunity to ask whether or not he will continue to press for an appeal of the defamation award that the Supreme Court granted to Karen Bevans against him. As we told you, the Court of Appeal has affirmed that he defamed the former Director of Tourism in an interview he granted to Love News in November 2020.

He and RSV Media, Love FM's parent company, have the option of appealing that outcome at the Caribbean Court of Justice, and so we asked if he will continue to pursue it.

He told us that he will listen to the advice of his attorney:

Reporter
"Are you going to settle for that decision or are you going to go further to try to vindicate?"

Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Again, I don't like to comment on these court issues because I do have my opinion on that matter and it has not change and it will not change. But what I have done is I've been meeting with the attorney and we have not discussed it as yet and if there is room for appeal then we will appeal it, but if the attorney would advise his best then we just settle, then that's the law. We will follow the law."

As you heard, the Prime Minister insists that his views and positions on the topic have not changed, even though two courts have reviewed the matter found that he made unfair comments that defamed Karen Bevans.
