General elections are a solid three years away, but don't tell that to the UDP - which is launching off with a flurry of endorsement conventions this weekend.
Included in that list is the man who will replace Patrick Faber in the Collet Constituency, Ian Jones.
In a fairly incredible turn of events, Jones - who was once a Faber loyalist - will now replace the party's most popular politician as first time candidate in one of its strongholds.
He's doing so against a headwind. The UDP Collet Constituency Executive Committee yesterday sent the party chairman a letter saying that they do not support his endorsement and have never been consulted.
They make multiple points of objection, but the convention will go through nonetheless tomorrow morning at the UDP Headquarters. We'll wait and see what Faber - the five term representative's next move will be.
