Earlier in the news, you heard the former Foreign Minister's stance on former terrorist relocated to Belize, Majid Khan. But while he supports Khan's resettlement in Belize, the NTUCB isn't having it. The president, Luke Martinez, says the government should have taken a no-tolerance position when it comes to terrorists - even those that are claimed to be reformed. He feels that Belizeans won't be safe with Khan in the country.

Luke Martinez, President, NTUCB
"That's a very touchy topic and we're going to discuss Khan at the national trade union congress executive meeting this weekend. For right now we don't think that that is the best decision that was taken. I mean you're talking about terrorism and terrorism has very long arms and we want to ensure that as a country you keep terrorist and you keep terrorism out of your country. There shouldn't be any quid pro quo when it comes to terrorism."

"Do you believe that at this point Mr. Khan, despite claims that he is reform may still be a danger to the nation?"

Luke Martinez, President, NTUCB

"Any terrorist is a danger. Once you are a terrorist, you are a terrorist. I am no international relations expert or any reform expert, but we know how it goes. You see certain people right here in Belize are in gangs, next thing you know bwai me da noh gang man no more and 2 weeks later di man dead, because he still is in gang."

"Them claiming his reformation, I don't know how justifiable that is. The point that we cannot allow this country to be a safe haven for terrorism and for terrorist is a very important concern and our leaders need to take that very seriously."
