Integrity in public service was the topic of discussion at today's Integrity Innovation Lab at Dream Valley Resort in the West.

It's the culmination of a series of trainings that sought to create the groundwork for a culture of integrity in public service by taking a citizen-centric approach to service.

Here is some of what some of the participants said about building systems that fight corruption through honest and accountable public servants.

Cheri-Leigh Erasmus
"Having done this type of work across 12 countries over the last 10 years what we have learned is every country, every civil service and every community where you go people understand their own challenges and their own solutions better than anyone external to that community can."

Rolando Zetina, CEO, Ministry of Public Service
"It starts with us each one of us, every little act that we do if it goes. Against the grain of good governance, it's an act of what we would refer to as corruption. So it has to start with us so this project encompasses the entire aspect of Good governance."

Sandra Diaz-Cadle, Coordinator, Training and Development
"This was not the beginning, we started with an initial training and what we are doing is we are building capacity with our trainers, they now form a part of our facilitator's pool for the training unit and we are using them to provide training to others within the, yes, within the service and so for our clerical promotional program, secretarial promotional program, professional promotional program, all of those will have a mandatory program on good governance and our pool will be selected from these individuals."

Cordilla Ballasera, Administrative Assistant, Department Of Civil Aviation
"Well, the good governance model is trying to have our public officers understand the impacts of corruption, you know these, how corruption affects us overall, affects the development of our country so this good governance module training that we will be implemented in the public service is to have public officers to get the information they need in terms of identifying corruption, issues of corruption causes of corruption and what steps, what mechanisms we can put in place to prevent such from occurring, I mean for corruption to take place there must be a buyer and a seller, so it's not just about the public officers but also about the role that we play in order to stop that from happening and to change that culture, change the norm, change the way of doing business on a whole."
