As we told you last week, former Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Kent Clare is taking the government to court after his contract was not renewed and he was sent home. The former Director says that based on communication with the Ministry of Finance he had a legitimate expectation that his contract would be renewed. Clare has retained Dean Barrow to file for judicial review of his contracts non renewal.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Chris Coye is at the apex of the decision making apparatus in that Ministry but today he wouldn't say much about the case:

Reporter
"The former director of the FIU is challenging his non-renewal of a contract as unfair, do you believe that you covered all your basis?"

Christopher Coye, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance
"I'm not sure what basis you think should be covered but I understand there is a claim that has been lodged for judicial review, that is now a matter before the court and I think that has to be dealt with acordingly through attorneys."

Reporter:
"He was notified that his contract would not be renewed even though he was being kept on?"

Christopher Coye, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance
"As I said that's a matter that's before the court and I'm sure you'll be able to see the responses, replies, affidavits, those will all be of public record so you could get your answers to that in those documents."
