But we did get a few words in with the Deputy Prime Minister today after the PUP National Executive met at Independence Hall in Belize City.
It was a housekeeping meeting for municipals according to the Party Chairman but we took the opportunity to ask the DPM about his party being under attack in the media, in the commercial breaks - and now in the Senate.
He held the party line - and did some chest beating for having rejected a document which critics say should never have reached a PUP Cabinet in the first place:
Reporter:
"Sir, the PUP is under attack in the media and there is an advertising campaign against them, now the independent senators want to trigger a special select committee to investigate the definitive agreement and how it ended up in the PUP Cabinet, this is not a good look Sir, 2.5 years in office, can you comment?"
Cordel Hyde, Minister of Natural Resources

"Well, um, I think ultimately everyone in their right mind has rejected that definitive agreement I think any warm-blooded Belizean would and certainly our cabinet did just the same, we rejected that in it's entirety and the Cabinet from, every man and woman in the Cabinet rejected that. So, ultimately that is the real, that is the real, you know it was ventilated in Cabinet um, fully ventilated as it should have been and ultimatleythe Cabinet decided that is not the way we will go. That could not countenance that we could not support that. So, that is the real, it's a democracy we are in and people question things, they have a right to question things and there are many things that goes to Cabinet, there are many things that are ventilated, there are many opinions, many issues brought up and we ventilate them to the fullest, we have a very open Cabinet, we have a very transparent Cabinet, um, our members are allowed and encouraged to speak and we um, we don't hold back, no holes barred. Ultimately at the end of the day it is about making the right decision about making decision that is in the best interest of he people. I think that is what we did in Cabinet when we ventilated it, we made a decision that was in the best interest of the people, which was that we were not going that way."
Reporter:
"Has this perhaps undermined confidence in the person who brought it to Cabinet and again we still don't know who that person is?"
Cordel Hyde, Minister of Natural Resources
"Yeah, but there was no hard selling of it the matter was tabled at Cabinet, Cabinet responded, Cabinet Ministers rejected it, um, tore it up, felt that it was totally untenable something that could not be defended, something that could not be promoted. Um, but there was no hard selling, ultimately once people spoke up, once Cabinet spoke up, once Ministers spoke up a decision was made to pull that back"
