And Barrow isn't only coming after Perez. Last Friday we told you that he wrote a letter to the Royal Caribbean Group Audit Committee, warning them that if the UDP are voted into power in 2025, they will have to review the agreement with Portico and terminate it if they believe it is corrupt.
Today, he told us that the UDP cannot do business with Portico following the former definitive agreement.
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I hope that you, you read it thoroughly and saw at the end where I concluded the letter by stating to, uh, the audit chair, Mr. Williams, I believe his name is, that we look forward to creating a welcoming climate, a fertile investor climate for investors such as the Royal Caribbean Group to plant, uh, seeds that will be beneficial to all, but especially the Belizean people. So I can't understand, anything other than arrogance, anything other than ego, anything other than just a 30 year politician in John Briceno that is totally disconnected and he thinks that we are still living in the George Price cabinet era where uh, people are not abreast of the truth and people are not ready for this revolution. People are tired of the 43 years of governance. And they gave the UDP three terms because the UDP was performing, but it still was not enough. And the PUP promised more. They never promised more foolishness. They never promised more corruption. They never promised more unethical governance. So when you look at the letter to Royal Caribbean, they need to understand the position of the government in waiting so that when we become the next government, which by God's grace we will, and by the might of the Belizean people, we will, it's no surprise that they were worn."
"There is no way that the United Democratic Party can support any business with Portico. To me, I agree with the opinion that that is a pension plan for some of the boys, that is a manufactured put together project, that totally offends reason, that totally undermines our other developers such as the Waterloo Group and the State Bank Group."
"I have has responses, there was a response to a previous one when they said when they come to Belize, they would like to meet with me, this letter was just set out last week and I anticipate they will respond and look forward to meeting with them when they come to Belize."
