And while The Minister is satisfied that a march for a children's rally did happen in Benque Viejo, he is not at all satisfied with the actions of attorney Audrey Matura yesterday. She made a post where she cursed the Prime Minister and said she would spit on the Guatemalan flag. She was at the Biltmore which was the setting for the formal reception, accompanying the Guatemalan independence celebration in Belize. Minister Fonseca says that there is no need for a back and forth with our neighbors across the border.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

"No I think we have diplomatic relations with Guatemala obviously so as an embassy and they have every right to celebrate their Independence Day no I think these matters obviously we know our position out legal position there's a process that's underway through the international court of Justice we respect that process so I don't think we should get into the back and forth with the Guatemalans and the embassy here in Belize just as we have an embassy in Guatemala. They celebrate Belize independence there every Year so Guatemala has the right they've been doing it for many years. Celebrating and inviting other Belizeans to participate and help them celebrate independence. We are not against Guatemala and against Guatemala's independence. What we are for is Belize's independence and Belize's sovereignty and Belize's territorial interfaith and that cannot be questioned. I don't think we should engage in seeing ghost where there are none we should be confident in who we are and confident in the future of Belize."
