After months of speculation, tonight, a decision has been made on whether Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner will have to face a contested convention.
That decision was made today at a meeting of the PUP's National Executive at Independence Hall in Belize City.
But, what's the decision? Well, it still hasn't been officially announced.
7News was there when the meeting finished around midday - and we spoke to the party chairman - who was still non committal:

"Will Mayor Wagner be endorsed as your mayoral candidate?"
Henry Charles Usher, Chairman, PUP

"The recommendations coming were approved but we have to reach out to our candidates first. We can't allow the media to have that first. We have to reach out to all our candidates countrywide before we can make it public. That's fair enough, don't you think?"

"One Councillor has frowned upon the fact that Alan Pollard did go out and campaign during the September 21st parade."
Henry Charles Usher, Chairman, PUP
"No, no, Alan Pollard was part of the unity parade that we had out there."
"I didn't see it as campaigning. I believe that we had a massive parade. You guys saw the pictures, saw the videos."

"Do you see maybe an issue arising within the party if indeed there is a decision to not hold a convention for a mayoral candidate?"
Henry Charles Usher, Chairman, PUP
"I believe that there are always persons who feel a bit disappointed but certainly I feel that the party has made the decisions. Going through a very tedious process, even Channel 7 says, mein, the party is taking long to come up with their candidates but it is a process. We had to go through 125 applications and this was countrywide."
