And in other news, yesterday we told you about the 15 page list of PUDP parliamentarians and councillors who have not declared their assets, income, and liabilities. The list was published in the Gazette and has 79 names, many of them appearing multiple times over several years.

The penalty for late filing is supposed to be a fine of $100 per day, but will this be enforced? Yesterday we reported that the DPP has not even seen the files yet. Today the media asked her to explain:

Cheryl Lynn Vidal, Director of Public Prosecutions
"Asking me why I haven't received anything? I think you need to ask the people who are supposed to send it to me why I haven't received it as yet."

Reporter:
"Is there anything to say that you would need or you can ask them for their filings?"

Cheryl Lynn Vidal, Director of Public Prosecutions
"There's a process set out where they do the publication and they send the files to me and I have been informed that the files are being prepared and they will be sent to me shortly."

Reporter:
"And how long have they been in non-compliance, do you know?"

Cheryl Lynn Vidal, Director of Public Prosecutions
"I'm not certain, I haven't seen any of the documents as yet."

Reporter:
"But it would be for years, right?"

Cheryl Lynn Vidal, Director of Public Prosecutions
"I've not seen the documents, I won't be able to respond."
